History

Windsor District Baptist Church at South Windsor in the Hawkesbury region has been ministering since 1956. Over this time ministers have come and gone but the present minister, Rev. Noel Edwardes has been there since 1998. He is a respected pastor within the community and loved and esteemed by his congregation.

The church originated in Windsor with an Open Air Campaigners meeting in January 1935. In June 1936 we commenced a Sunday School followed by forming the church with 16 members in March 1956 and we moved into a new church in Macquarie Street, South Windsor in 1961. In 1981 we celebrated our 25th Anniversary.

The land on which the church currently stands, sixteen acres on the corner of George Street and Richmond Road in South Windsor was purchased in 1988. Leading up to the Sydney Olympics in 2000 building extensions were made to host Christians from around the world. During this time the building work brought the men together into teams of workers with a foremen to instruct and server builders to supervise. A great deal of the building work was finished in this manner which explains a sense of personal ownership within the church because of these beginnings.

Many families here at the church have been here for many years, their children have been baptised and married here with some of their children still attending. We are a tight knit community of dedicated members faithfully serving our Lord within the context of church fellowship.
