Windsor District Baptist Church (WDBC) is home to the 138th NSW South Windsor Company of The Girls Brigade. Several times a year we have a Brigades Service which allows the girls from the brigade to participate in our services and showcase what they are learning to demonstrate the life-skills and spiritual growth they acquire from being involved.
The Girls’ Brigade
The Girls’ Brigade is a world wide Christan organisation of girls and women which was established in Ireland over 100 years ago. It has since spread to more than 50 countries and is still growing. Companies meet each week and girls regularly take part in crafts, games, camps and outings, but also are challenged through discovering more about God, serving in the community and learning leadership and living skills. Girls’ Brigaders form friendships with other girls, not only from within the company, but sometimes from other parts of the world! At all times the girls are in the care of trained and competent leaders in a safe environment. The Girls’ Brigade meet at 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursdays during school terms at WDBC. For more information visit The Girls’ Brigade website.
The Boys’ Brigade
Up until 2010 Windsor District Baptist Church was home to the 138th NSW South Windsor Company of The Boys Brigade, unfortunately this company will not be operating during 2011 onwards until further notice. The Boys’ Brigade Australia has been successfully operating youth work programs for over 100 years. Their particular strength has been in programs which focus on training and developing boys and young men into balanced people through physical, spiritual, social and educational activities for Anchors, Juniors and Seniors. For more information on where Boys’ Brigade might be operating near you visit The Boys’ Brigade website.
