Becoming Disciple Makers

This Week At Windsor E-News

In Mark 1:17 Jesus saids to Simon and Andrew "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" These first disciples of Jesus were not invited to just be disciples themselves. They were not invited to just follow Jesus around Galilee and Judea. They were not invited to just watch and serve Jesus in His mission.

They were invited to be active participants in Kingdom ministry by learning how to fish for people! They were called to be disciple makers.

Over the 3 years of the earthly ministry of Jesus, He trained, empowered, commissioned and sent his disciples out to find people of peace who were ready to receive the good news about Jesus and become a part of His Kingdom.

So here is my confession. As I reflect on my life and my vocational ministry, I have to admit that I have not been a person who makes disciples. It is this fact that motivated me to engage with other leaders of our church in the Building a Disciple Culture process.

So here is my confession...

For about the last 21 months some of our leadership have been receiving training and coaching to help us become disciple makers. We believe that discipleship is the process for achieving the transformation that our vision statement longs for.

I'm a long way yet from being a disciple maker. But I'm on the journey. Would you like to join us in this journey? Please feel free to reach out to Pastor Jonathan, myself, Warren Johnson or Emily Johnson to be a part of this exciting movement.
