The Upper Room

Our Sunday evening service returns 4 July 2021, with themed worship gatherings and discussions about practical Christian living. Taking our cue from Jesus’ early disciples, we have named this gathering time, “The Upper Room.”

Night Church is Back!

We’ve heard you, WDBC, and we are thrilled to be re-introducing our Sunday evening worship gatherings. While our core principles remain the same - the Word, worship, fellowship, and prayer - we aim to give these times a distinctly practical and personal feel.

So What Can You Expect?

  • A Practical Focus — Over the last 6 months of 2021, we are taking time to explore foundational practices of the Christian faith under the heading “Teach Me How To…” Topics include: prayer, worship, bible study, evangelism, loving our neighbour, and knowing/using our spiritual gifts.

  • Time for Training — We will devote about a month to learning and living out each practice among our community. After each teaching we’ll leave with a picture of what it looks like to “act on” Sunday’s truth the following Monday.

  • Some New Faces — We have booked guest speakers for the first session on each topic. These guests have been invited based upon their experience and expertise in practicing what they preach.

  • Some New Leaders — When re-launching our evening service, we consciously created opportunities to raise up maturing believers into positions of leadership for the future of WDBC and for the building of God’s Kingdom. This means we expect God to raise up new helpers, new musicians, new preachers, new shepherds, and so forth.

  • A Safe Space — Our generation is yearning more than ever for a performance-free space where its okay to be vulnerable. To properly wrestle with the questions, doubts, and anxieties of our age requires safe spaces for real conversation. So let’s leave out the pretense and formalities. We’re not playing dress-up spirituality. Come as you are.

  • Gospel Community — Above all, we hope that “The Upper Room” is a place where disciples are comfortable being disciples; where grace is tangible, forgiveness is mutual, and love is practical. Expect us to make much of Jesus and to practice his ordinances (baptism, communion) regularly.

Want To Come?

If you are planning to attend, please pre-register in advance through our website or through WDBC’s Church Center App. You can also sign-up to attend via this link!

Want To Help?

We would covet your prayers! Any new initiative is frought with pitfalls and potential failures. But most of all, we are aware of the war going on as hell rages to keep out Christ’s Kingdom. Pray that we remain bold, confident, and surrendured as we pursue this opportunity.

And after you’ve prayed, if the Lord is leading you to serve His church at “The Upper Room”, please contact Pastor Stephen Cole and he will get you plugged into a volunteer role.
